How is Cable Beach Chiro different?

Updated: May 17, 2023

Hello! Dr Steph here, the owner and chiropractor of Cable Beach Chiropractic, here to introduce myself so you know what to expect when you choose to work with me in beautiful Broome.

Starting Cable Beach Chiropractic I intend to work a little differently. Longer appointment times, a balance of manual chiropractic adjusting and more gentle care (including soft tissue work, NOT, blocking, activator...), and a bit of dry needling are all part of the plan, allowing me to care for you in the best way possible. I care for all ages, with particular clinical interests in stress management, pregnancy care and paediatrics (children and babies). Why? Read on!

I graduated in 2016 from Murdoch University, and subsequently started practicing alongside my parents at Marslen Chiropractic Centre in Maylands.

I spent the next 5 years working there, building my practice from scratch (with support from mum and dad, thanks guys!). The first couple of years were pretty full on, as I was both building my practice and continuing to study post-uni.

Straight out of university I started my post-graduate Diplomate from the Australian College of Chiropractic Paediatrics, a 2 year course complete with (huge) exam at the end of it. I learnt an immense amount, and use this knowledge in my practice every day.

I also started and completed my training in Neural Organisation Technique (NOT), both basic and advanced. NOT has become my go-to to use to help people who want more gentle care, who don't like the 'cracking' that comes with a chiropractic adjustment, or who may have high stress levels or more overwhelmed nervous systems that need more gentle, balancing input. NOT works on neural points across the body, with the aim being to bring the body back to balance.

I added other seminars - women's health, stress and the nervous system, pregnancy care, adjusting techniques...

Then Covid hit and the next two years were spent slowing down!

When Covid lockdowns were starting to end my partner and I decided we wanted a change, and an opportunity came up in Far North Queensland. I left my practice in the care of the wonderful Dr. Lacey Thorn, who's taken over while I'm gone, and moved to Mission Beach.

We spent the year exploring the incredible natural places of FNQ, and I worked in the towns of Tully and Innisfail. Here my manual adjusting was really put to the test! Adjusting many (many!) long-distance truckies, hard labouring banana and cane farmers, rugby players and everyone in between really unlevelled my skills, which I'm very grateful for!

At the end of the year we needed to move back to WA, and the next opportunity came up in Broome! We spent a some time driving across WA, and I set up Cable Beach Chiropractic in March.

It's been a joy starting this practice and starting to meet you all here in Broome. I hope to be able to use my skills and knowledge to care for you and your families.

Best,
Dr Steph Marslen
